Trend Windows and Doors is an Australian manufacturing company specialising in aluminium, timber and thermal energy efficient windows and doors. Trend’s associated hardware company, Fenestra Hardware Specialists, approached Infinity Design to assist them with the design and development of a Multifunction 3 Point Lock.

The main requirement for the new lock was that it could be night-latched via the internal handle, whilst still allowing regular access via the key from outside. This requirement has been driven by the increasing number of people being deadlocked inside their house during an emergency and unable to get out.

The final design of the Multipoint Hinge Door Lock and Handle incorporates all of the functionality that was required; it is a 3 point (top, bottom and middle) lock, with internal night latching that can also be unlocked from outside using the key.

The multi point locking system is designed to latch into the head and sill making it an effective locking system for tall doors because it pulls the panel tighter to the frame. This reduces the amount of air infiltration providing the home or residential building with energy savings as well.
