The ABR diagnostic device is a medical product undertaken for our client Ausonex Pty. Ltd. It is used in hearing screening of infants. The test is faster and more accurate than current screening methods having greater benefits for detecting and dealing with hearing problems at a young age.
The Ausonex audiometer measures surface potentials over the brainstem elicited in response to auditory stimuli presented to the neonatal subject using headphones. The auditory stimuli are typically a sequence of clicks or tone bursts at various frequencies. The evoked response is measured using two electrodes placed on the skin over the brainstem and a third reference electrode on the shoulder.
The audiometer stores the raw data collected during a screening test to removable media (flash memory). In addition, it uses proprietary data processing algorithms to detect potential hearing defects in significantly less time than the current state of the art. Results of data analysis may be reviewed on screen at the time of testing or deferred for later study.
